A Year of Growth and Progress
After a year of hard work and important milestones, we’re excited to share the latest updates on WaterStarters' journey. Over the past year, we’ve expanded our impact, empowering communities through new boreholes, franchise partnerships, and innovative support initiatives.
Our third borehole in Kima is now fully operational, along with two additional boreholes developed for new franchisees. This brings us to a total of five functional boreholes, each providing essential water resources to local communities, and our sixth franchisee has already signed on!
Alongside this growth, we continue to support existing franchisees. Close partnerships allow us to provide timely assistance and to develop opportunities to strengthen community resources. Through our experience with Kumpa, we’ve seen firsthand the importance of including agricultural initiatives. Inspired by this, we encouraged Kima to integrate agriculture into their work, and we’re excited to partner with KCIC in Kibiko and Orinie to help local youth groups establish climate-smart agriculture projects.
In addition, we’ve made significant progress in technology development to further support our franchisees. We’re currently working on a monitoring app to enhance the efficiency of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities. Designed with user-friendly features like real-time data collection, visualization, and reporting, this app will streamline O&M for our franchisees. Thanks to our collaboration with Design for Good, the app’s user journey has been mapped, and an experienced developer is now building the application in partnership with Upande, ensuring seamless integration of its front- and back-end systems.
While we recognize that onboarding new franchisees can take time, we’re learning from each experience, and continuously working to streamline and improve the process.
Stay tuned as we continue to grow, adapt, and expand our impact.
